About Claire O’Sullivan

Claire O’Sullivan writes clean, high-stakes crime fiction, police procedurals, and romantic suspense, weaving together forensics, faith, and a healthy dose of humor.

Her small-town Whiskey River series includes Romance Under Wraps, Silk & Slippers, and Shanghai Road. Her Grit & Grace Mysteries follow two homicide detectives trying to solve murders while navigating faith, romance, and enough mayhem to keep everyone on their toes.

A former nurse practitioner, Claire has a varied background that occasionally reads like research for one of her novels. As a nurse, she spent a summer volunteering as a legal assistant with Oregon Legal Services, where she helped write a winning Oregon Supreme Court brief and earned the nickname “Repo Queen” for helping people facing unscrupulous creditors.

Claire is also a licensed amateur radio operator and a former trained Search and Rescue (SAR) volunteer in Josephine County, Oregon.

Her background in forensic science includes training through the National Forensic Science Technology program and Josephine County's Property Crime Scene Unit. She continues to study police procedures and forensics through courses offered by the Maryland Police Training Commission (MPTC) via Officer Virtual Academy.

A member of American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW), Claire was a 2025 finalist for the Eric Hoffer da Vinci Eye Award for Silk & Slippers. Her novels Romance Under Wraps and Shanghai Road have also received ChristLit Awards in the Mystery/Suspense category in 2025 and 2026, as well as the Feathered Quill and the Feathered Quill Reviewer's Choice for Shanghai Road in 2026.

Originally published by Elk Lake Publishing, Claire regained the rights to her novels and established One Candle Press, where she is revisiting, revising, and independently publishing her earlier works alongside new mysteries.

She lives in Southern Oregon, out in the country but not beyond the reach of Wi-Fi, where the chickens apparently believe sunrise is an event everyone should attend.
